Ascorbic acid (vit C) 400 mg [300 mg ascorbic acid (equiv to 353.53 mg Na ascorbate), 300 mg ascorbic acid (equiv to 412.37 Ca ascorbate)], rutin 50 mg, hesperidin 50 mg, lemon bioflavonoid complex (35%) 50 mg, Rosa canina L. (dog-rose fruit) 250 mg (equiv to 62.5 mg rose hips extr 4:1), Malpighia emarginata (acerola fruit) 50 mg (equiv to 12.5 mg acerola powd extr 4:1)
Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of vit C deficiency.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ G6PD deficiency, history of kidney stones, hyperoxaluria, oxalate metabolism disorders & thalassemia.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ diabetes & prone to recurrent renal calculi (eg, dialysis patients). Avoid excessive doses for extended period of time. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, GI disturbances, hyperoxaluria & formation of renal Ca oxalate calculi (in large doses).
Drug Interactions
May worsen Fe toxicity of desferrioxamine. May increase serum ethinylestradiol conc w/ OCs. May cause deterioration of behavior & fall in serum conc of fluphenazine. May reduce activity of warfarin. Increases absorption of Fe in Fe-deficiency states.
